Vintage accessory

Try ID'ing this accesory removed from

a bungalow unchanged since built. Possibly 1940ish. Altough i have seen similar none have been like this. More pics to follow.

Is it a switched 5-amp two pin socket for installation on a lighting circuit?

It certainly is cute and cuddly. Brown Bakelite, brass and copper innards with a ceramic internal body no doubt. I think that the cover just screws on, am I right? Very collectable and/or saleable.

Not 2 pin and not 3Amp lighting.

This may give it away - it has a novel fuse holder.

Close enough Mr Z. And yes the top just unscrews.

Its a surface mount single switched 13A socket. Designesd for a 3pin plug where the fuse actualy plugs into the socket. Very heavy and the switch has a reassuring action. Made by GEC.

No not that one. This picture shoes the fuse removed which would normally be screwed externally into the plug.

So is the socket outlet a 5 or a 15 Amp type? They had round pins. The 15 Amp pins were bigger than the 5 Amp ones. 13 Amp sockets have square pins.
