So what’s the Haste deal?

I don’t bother normally watching these videos, but I clicked the link on this occasion and picked up one thing from it.


Apparently a firm called Haste will call and fit a REC main switch for around £65 rather than having to pay WPD three times that, so does anyone know what the deal is?

Haste Ltd themselves I suggest    I imagine like all things it will vary by area - I think DS Electrical who post the video is in Western Power's patch. Haste certainly do things like cut-out replacements as approved subcontractors for that DNO, so an isolator ought to be easier.

Yes I'm subscribed to David, he's just the right mix of conscientious (the plug for Haste, rather than 'i yank the fuse myself') and irreverence ('this is a load of sh*te', or the lager martini, or removing the cover of a live CU while baiting the H&S people) to make for a good watch.


His personality is a great help also. Relaxed working conditions actually improve safety.




As a related comment, I spoke (unofficially) to a smart meter installer today, he said they don't really care when contractors pull the main fuse, (they being the people on the ground) but the big bosses DO, because of liability. Makes sense. Oddly he poohpoohed my mention of revenue protection, because apparently that's b*oody obvious anyway.

I have emailed Haste and they do indeed install main switches for less than the WPD list price, I received a prompt reply to my email and now have the Haste price list and an account application form to fill out.


So I have learnt something from clicking one of the YouTube links posted by Zoomup, though I doubt it was what he thought I’d pickup on whilst watching the video.
