Old Delta (Δ) Service Head Cut-Out

Good morning all,

During a survey, i came across what seems to be a very old Delta Cut-Out (attached picture for reference).

I contacted Eaton (who as far as i know now own Delta) but they couldn't provide me with any information on it.

I believe it is a fused cut out installed by the local DNO and directly connected to the LV network or to an adjacent substation, but can anyone please confirm?

Any information would be helpful.

Thank you,

Ilias

  • Just been down in the basement and the one here is exactly the same as the one in your original photograph, with the exception that on the one here, the supply cable comes straight up out of the floor and into the bottom cable entry, whereas in the one in your photograph it comes in via a corner entry.

It doesn't sound like it is compound filled when tapped. Most modern fillings will be a synthetic resin, avoiding the nastyness and (most of) the messyness of bitumen! ?
