fluke 1664fc tester

Hello. Does anyone have a fluke 1664fc tester, and have problems with it ? Most times I use it, it comes up with error message 5, which I think is interference on a circuit. Had the tester a couple of years now. Starting to wish a had bought a megger. It also trips rcds out, spoke to Fluke technical and their response was its a very complex tester, that's when technical is open, as apparently technical is closed on Tuesdays, as its the chaps day off !!!

  • I still don’t understand why one would be bothered with all that palaver. A wander lead test is a quick and easy method to confirm earth connections are present. Sure it has its limitations but standing with your finger placed somewhere dark while you wait impatiently for a relatively unreliable low current Zs test seems that your time could be put to better use.

Where polarity is also to be confirmed  other than at socket outlets then the R1+R2 method is no less of a task than with a loop tester, safer too!
