Amtech - Ring Circuit Length

Good afternoon.

I know some people in here do not think much of Amtech however for me is an everyday reality as I work in the design sector and everyone wants everything in Amtech.

Anyway....

In a ring circuit what would you put down as length in Amtech?

The total length from start to finish starting from the DB and ending in the DB?

Some other electrical engineer told me to put the length to the fartherst socket but it does not make sense in the way he phrased it.

Has anyone who used Amtech got any idea what Amtech EXPECTS as a ring length?

Thanks
  • You select a ring as your load and then the total length of cable around the ring.
  • But presumably assuming the ring has no spurs - as spur cable will contribute to Zs and v.d. at about four times the rate of ring cable (especially significant for a spur connected at the furthest point of the ring).

  • Total length of ring from the DB all the way back to it again.

There shouldn't really be any spurs off the ring if its a fresh design in my book.

If its a calc. for an existing ring then spurs would either be seen as a load (for fused spurs) or an extension of the ring (where taken off the back of a socket outlet) would they not?
