We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the IET Family!

Ever wanted to work with the IET's Technical Regulations team and help support and develop the Wiring Regulations?

Now's your chance... ?

  • Hi Lisa,

Just had a look (out of curiosity - I am not planning to apply) and it is great to see an advert that states Incorporated Engineer rather than Chartered Engineer, but... oh dear, oh dear, it says "..most importantly a good working knowledge of the IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671:2008" !!!

Somebody should have their wrist slapped.

    Too old BOD

  • or perhaps senior engineers specialise in also knowing slightly out of date regs - the docx attachment really does say

    • A good working knowledge of the IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671:2008 incorporating Amendment No.3 2015, associated legislation and existing industry guidance

    so presumably not a mistake..

I'd accept that slant if the advert had been dated pre the 18th. I'd like to think though that the job relates to current requirements with ideally, an awareness of earlier editions.

    Yes but ...

Have a look at the document properties. Created 06/12/2017 (17th Edn +3) by Mark Coles; last modified 10/12/2019 by ... let's spare her blushes in public.

So this seems to be an advert for the same post a couple of years ago, but recycled.

Lisa, does this qualify me for the job? ?

  • Would a grade C in Media Studies and a pass in Woodwork Analysis help when applying?
