  • It looks like there might be some Euro sockets connected through SFCUs.

I have some apparently randomly placed sockets, there are three double sockets at the front of my lounge for a TV and associated kit, but then all the furniture was swapped around and the TV is at the other end of the Tom.

Similar things have happened in bedrooms with sockets for computers and TVs, however I still have to get around to installing more sockets in the hall for the internet kit that has been on an extension lead for years.

Looks god awful if you ask me , I really don’t like flat plate used like that. Looks garish and tacky.

i guess once all the desks and computers are in the room it won’t look as bad...
  • Go on then. Own up. Who wired it. Which one of you was it?

    Nice weekend quiz Zoom
  • The Consumer Unit might be interesting. I note that the kitchen has hardly any, so I wonder if it was for business - perhaps a sales rep for a company that made s/s fittings !

I agree that with the sockets and the downlights, it looks a bit over the top.

Mike I would almost certainly say it was meant for some kind of home office / business use.

still looks blooming awful but if there was some desks in there it would hide most of the sockets / data points etc
  • How I  hate that stupid expression, "plug-socket". What is wrong with "power-point" or "power-socket"? As for Middlesex, that county went out of existence in the 1960s. Still, the Daily Wail lives in a time-warp so that is to be expected.

Getting back to the point, I think, like others, that this house was once used as a business premises and the sockets were positioned to suit the appliances that would be using them. This would explain why the kitchen appears to be fairly normal.

The next official electric installation inspection of this house is going to be fun!

Plug socket is a pretty universal term ?
  • "Power point". Isn't that some type of modern presentation system using a computer and screen?

  • Many believe that Middlesex no longer exists as it was abolished in 1965. Greater London was formed and, with that, Middlesex County Council was dissolved. But Middlesex is still used as a reference to where people live all the time.
