Best Buy Multi Function Tester...?

Hi All,

I'm looking to expand my current electrical/mechanical service role to include inspection and testing, this year I will be sitting the appropriate qualifications.

Bit of an impossible question I suppose but what is the best buy MFT?

Do you need to spend a fortune, are you just paying for a name, do they all do the same thing, any to avoid...??

My current test equipment is all Fluke but there MFTs seem to be more pricey than say Megger or Kewtech?

Any info much appreciated or any links to previous discussions.

    I've been a megger enthusiast for years, having various bits of their kit, but am sorry to say that interest has  gone over the last couple of years. All but one of my megger items has gone defective, with the MFT requiring a new connector block, on one occasion, and a new lead set a short time later. I'll look for a different make next MFT purchase.




    Indeed, their test terminals seem to be a particular issue on the megger MFTs. The green one (L2/Earth) has gone intermittent on ours, but it always manages to pass calibration. I am considering opening it up and resoldering just prior to the next cal!
