Part P update refresher request

Hi All

I'm having an extension built on my house and the work has stopped and so has my job.  The logical thing is make wiring the extension into my new job.  I haven't done any domestic wiring work for about 4 years and so I've lost track of the state of the Part P fiasco. Can someone fill me in on what the current state is.  I am no longer on the competant persons register, so I want to go down the planning application route.  Last time I did that it was only 360 for the job.   Also I have 17th edition and not 18th.  What chaged and is it worth getting the 18th?

Thanks

Stephen

  • If you are extending from existing ways in the CU, nothing is notifiable anyway, unless the extension is a bathroom crack on. If you need to notify to the council then your best bet is to talk to the chaps at the local building control office, as exactly what they will accept is a bit variable by region.
