Help with installation / diagram

Hi,

I am after some help with a heated windows installation / diagram - grateful for any input.

Unfortunately, the company supplying the installion went bust and I have been left with a system that doesn't  work (incorrectly designed).

We had a local electrician do the first fix wiring based on the diagrams but he says what has been sent won't work in it's current state and he doesn't have the relevant expertise to adjust it.

We live in a rural area and electricians are not that common especially for something as complex as this.

Rather than post up the diagrams and go into too much detail initially, I just wanted to know if this is a place to ask for advice and if not could anyone point me in the right direction. e.g contact details for an electrical engineer.

Thanks.

  • I have never installed and wired one of these systems, so I don't claim any superior knowledge to those electricians you already have.

How many of those consumer units do you have? I assume this one is suppose to be supplied by the 76 volt 32 amp connection on the transformer to supply windows 1, 6, 8, 10 and 16 and there are other consumer units for the other windows grouped by their operating voltages; with each window having a direct supply from its relevant consumer unit, with the exception of the two of the stairway windows 3 and 5 which are wired in series direct to the mains, but still through a relay to control them.

I am guessing there should be the equivalent of six consumer units, bearing in mind these a European consumer units have three rails in them, it needs to be taken into account that their plastic enclosures could be considered an issue in the UK and you need to take additional fire precautions.

I am hoping that the consumer unit shown in the photos has not been powered up connected to the windows at mains voltage.
