Isolation for flats on card meters.

Does each flat ran from an landlords main board need individual means of isolation or can they just be isolated from an MCB in main board . The flats are rented and have card meters in them .

  • It is quite common to have only single pole isolation pre-meter - like a fuse or a red link (a fuse holder with a shorting bar in it - colour red so you do not muddle it with a real fuse, the real fuse is further back)

Is there a means of isolation in the flat either pre or post the card meter ? There needs to be a clear place to switch off in emergency for the flat user - a board with lots of MCBs may not be ideal, as they may not switch off the right one in a hurry.

It is not clear if there landlord metering, and the card meters are private sub-metering, or or if this is an un-metered 'building network', in which case there are considerations of security and the DNO have to be happy with it, and have additional rules.
