    I wonder does a 40Amp meter behave with a 60A load.

    I've a feeling the meter's rating relates more to the range of current within which it satisfies a certain degree of accuracy (outside that range it's permitted to be somewhat less accurate) - rather than being it maximum current carrying capacity.
