Burying SWA

hi guys, just looking for a general consensus on the depth to burying SWA in a garden area which would be expected to be maintained by gardening forks and spades etc, I intend to line trench with sand and lay marker tape approx 150mm from the surface, what depth would be acceptable, I'm edging for 600mm total depth

  • I think 1m LV cables (deeper for HV) is recommended and suggested route is around the periphery.

There is guidance for this somewhere.

I do remember being in a large garden when a 3-phase underground supply cable was extracted by 'digger Pete' with his hydraulic bucket.

That was quite ammusing when he pronouced himself on the phone to Western Power to explain his reasoning for the trench.
