Bonding both sides of an swa cable

Is it necessary to bond both sides of an armoured cable if it’s not being used as a CPC and if you bond it at the supply side of an electrical motor starter panel is there anything in the regs where it should be bonded too or can it just be bolted to the chassis stud using a 6mm fly lead off the gland.

thanks for your help in advance guys.
  • Or if you just want a simple table, then table 54.7 in the regs (which 543.1.1 will lead you to eventually) - but basically that just says same size as the line conductor up to 16mm², then 16mm² for line conductors up to 35mm², then half the size of the line conductor beyond that (all presuming both your line conductor and 'earth link' are both copper).

Alternatively it can be calculated - which often shows that a smaller c.p.c. is permitted.

  • What is the requirements when your feeding from a MCC through JBs to a local isolator.(if it’s been earthed at the MCC) I see continuity kept by linking all the armours together (daisy chaining) usually in the junction boxes or isolators but not sure what good practice should be used.
