Final Panel Board Estimation

For large industrial plant, How to decide the number of panel boards for the lighting and small power services?
Is my below approach correct?

1. Breakdown the plant area/Electrical Room as per the layout.

2. Make the lighting calculation / socket requirements for the particular plant area / room.

3. Determine the number of fixtures/sockets to be connected in one circuit.

4. Determine the number of ways for each panel board considering the number of circuits (limit the voltage drop & balance the loads).

    If it's just the lighting and small power, you could estimate that at say 40w/m2


    If you took an area of say 1200m2, that would give you circa 48kW, which is around 63A/phase.


    Put the board in the approximate centre of the 1200m2 area and that give you a circuit run out length of roughly 35m - which should happily handle voltage drop and impedance limits on "conventional" circuit sizes.


    Obviously, it's not that simple in a real site, as you'll be looking to put final DB's in specific allocated locations (E,C&I rooms, on plant galleries, out of harms way, reasonable close to feeder distribution or MCC run outs, etc)
