I have come across an socket outlet which has had the insulation on a neutral wire repaired with heat shrink, it looks like the socket screw has damaged it previously. Would this be an acceptable repair?
Ah, but this is where the wording of the reg gets interesting .... you need a key or tool to access the inside of the meter box - so it could be argued that the whole meter box meets the requirements of an electrical enclosure - so lack of proper additional insulation/sheaths/enclosure within the meter box is no more a departure than having exposed terminals within a joint box.
(the suitability of whatever's under the tape notwithstanding of course)
