Assumed ambient temperature behind cooker? (Cable derating)

Hi,


I have a 40A cooker circuit (Type B RCBO). That would be borderline 6mm2 at <=40C ambient, 10mm2 at higher temperatures.


Does anyone have a rule of thumb for how warm it gets behind a free standing cooker? 40C is quite warm and modern devices are probably better insulated than older one.

    The ambient behind the cooker is unlikely to be anything like 40C. Now apply diversity to the circuit. Your cable will not even get more than a few degrees above ambient, whatever that is.
