Was the ceiling rose cover fitted in the second photo or left as it is part way along the flex?

Difficult to see how it could be screwed around 3 flexes!!

  • I was asked to convert a former Thresher store, I expected that sort of standard above the ceiling, but no it was a first class job with tray & conduit

Neither cover is fitted, just clinging on to the cables.

  • In the picture it looks like extra holes have been drilled in the cover and believe me I have seen it done ?
  • Sparkingchip = Yes I do believe you - never under estimate the ingenuity of complete idiots

  • but then without the ceiling  you cannot pretend to be using the fabric of the building as the enclosure, which sort of you are allowed to do.
    526.5

Every termination and joint in a live conductor or a PEN conductor shall be made within one of the

    following or a combination thereof:

    (i) A suitable accessory complyi ng with the appropriate product standard

(ii) An equipment enclosure complying with the appropriate product standard

(iii) An enclosure partially formed or completed with building material which is non-combustible when tested to

    BS 476-4.

I imagine that  a suspended ceiling  is an enclosure made of  building material to some folk... Not  sure how many would survive the 20min red hot test though. I suspect that clause is really aimed at bricks and plaster.
