  • Brand new shopfit! Things are getting worse!
  • I fit rather a lot of Ansell Disco LED light fittings, twice this year I have been asked by two different people why don’t I just cut the back out of them and fit them over the old ceiling rose, instead of bringing the cables into them.

  • Because apparently that’s how most people install them!
  • I got censhored on this forum when I mentioned a quick fix on some light filttings if space provided - unscrew existing ceiling rose cover.

Fit new lighting bracket under existing rose base.

Wire up new light to CR base then fix fitting to bracket.

If the "cup" of your new fitting is big enough to allow space for this operation that is.

Store the old ceiling rose cup (cover) to reinstate in future.

Hat on duck down, yet again!

I do like Lyle`s pictures of what he found - says a lot!
  • You can see that these were wired up by the suspended ceiling fitters. I suggest you look at the MWC!

Nope, it is the work of an electrical contractor (or so he claims) subbing to a shopfit company. As you might expect, no certs.

  • Sort of "Normal Practice" by some comparisons then Lyle ? ?
  • Can’t work out why anyone would connect it up lights so badly. It would have hardly taken much to do it properly.
  • Was the ceiling rose cover fitted in the second photo or left as it is part way along the flex?
