Double pole RCD

Is there anything preventing us from using these type of RCDs for a 55-0-55 circuit?

  • It's quite simple - if an RCD is suitable for use on 110 V systems, the manufacturer will declare that voltage range ... if not, it won't be declared, as the RCD functionality to BS EN 61008 or BS EN 61009 is not assured.

It's not simply a case of whether the test button will or won't work.

To fit a device in an electrical system other than one it is rated for, in a workplace, could lead to a breach of Regulation 5 of the Electricity at Work Regulations. Art. 85 of the Memorandum of Guidance on EAWR says:
85 Electrical equipment should be used within the manufacturer’s rating (continuous, intermittent or fault rating as appropriate) and in accordance with any instructions supplied with the equipment.

So, check the manufacturer says it's OK for 110 V AC systems ...
