Worse than that, I knew someone who turned the taps on hoping for hot water and gas came out of them. Makes your problem seem small zoom.
Mind you, same bloke , wired a novel extension lead to feed an (unwired) twin socket from an existing socket by putting a 13A plugtop at each end of the flex. "A quick way to give a power socket where you need it" . If he had a brain he would be dangerous. Come to think of it though ! ! !
