Boiler Electrics.

Has anyone repaired a gas boiler where the rads. heat up but the hot water is not running properly from taps.

The boiler is an Alpha HECB25. All the electrics seem fine.

Download the installation and servicing instructions and follow the flow diagrams at the back as far as you can without doing any gas work, better than guesswork ?

    A good idea. Thanks.

A lack of flow, a lack of temperature or both?  As Grumpy says the likely probles are the diverter valve or the secondary heat exchanger. The problem can usually be diagnosed by looking at the indicator lamps and seeing what the boiler does.

If you turn on the hot tap does the hot water demand lamp come on? Does the boiler then fire up?

Do you get hot water if the heating is already running?

Rads. get hot. Tap water pressure good. Water comes out warmish then cools after about 20 seconds.

  • Diverter valve? Furry or constricted plate heat exchanger?

    Combi boiler. No cylinder.

  • primatic cylinder?
  • Worse than that, I knew someone who turned the taps on hoping for hot water  and gas came out of them. Makes your problem seem small zoom.

Mind you, same bloke , wired a novel extension lead to feed an (unwired) twin socket from an existing socket by putting a 13A plugtop at each end of the flex. "A quick way to give a power socket where you need it" . If he had a brain he would be dangerous.      Come to think of it though ! ! !
