Squirrel Damage

Hi Everyone,

Was at a job today where the client is looking to get their supply upgraded. I had a look at the current transformer to get an idea of its KVA and on inspection found that the earth conductors on both the HV and LV side of the transformer appear to have some squirrel damage to the insulation. Is this something I should get onto the DNO (Western Power) ASAP or is it not really a problem? Would appreciate some opinions!

  • Round here the DNOs really only come out to something that is pretty much at the point of collapse, and that really isn't, unless there is something else wrong as well, in your shoes I'd not bother them - the main thing is that the earth core has not been severed.
