Earth rod used in pme installation.

Came across an earth rod in the concrete floor of a rural garage. The Ra was 115 ohms.

Just wondering how effective in loss of neutral this would be.Most pipework was plastic,

so no mpb. Thanks for any opinions.

  • seconded - perhaps if it lit low wattage warning light between it and neutral, or if there is an RF reason for grounding.

Perfeclty ok for tripping an RCD on a TT island of course, but utterly defeated if you connect the PEN derived TNCs earth to it.

As a carrier of significant fault currents you are not doing much better than you would with a rod in a flowerpot on the windowsill....
