Indeed, but the admin team on this and other forums do have the right to hide, edit, or delete threads that expose the site owners to risk of litigation.

I am not saying that that this is the case, but it does seem probable.

  • Assuming the IET are using the same laws as the "big" players, there is pretty much zero risk of litigation as the terms deny responsibility for the content. It is possible to sue a poster, but that is usually too expensive for other than Marvel woman!
  • Hi All

The Voltage Drop post was deleted by the OP themselves, it was not an admin decision.

Please bear in mind that since we removed the 15 minute editing window, all forum users have the ability to delete their own contributions which can result in conversations reading a little 'oddly' and topics disappearing.

    Hope that helps?

  • Thank you  Lisa for clarifying - it seemed a bit odd as it was still active .

So if I'm reading this correctly Lisa, the instigator (OP) of the topic has the ability to delete not only their own posts but everyone else's who posted?

I don't think that this is unusual - I have come across it elsewhere. The OP can delete the whole thread.

He never did say what role he played in the whole business.

I suspect the "friend" in difficulty was Simon himself. Shame he deleted as I would have been interested helping out in taking the case on for him.

  • Hopefully the electrician had made it quite clear that the design and installation of the distribution circuit cable were not part of his work; and raised concerns about it being inadequate.

  • Thanks Lisa at least I know why it disappeared now. The reason I was a bit worried about it was I had literally just added a comment and it disappeared within seconds of me doing that. I think I was scared ide mucked something up  think I got a bit over stressed. I mite add my comment as a new separate thread  but I need to think first

Yes that is correct. If the OP deletes a topic that they started then the whole thread of discussion is removed as they 'own' that topic as the author. As a contributor to the topic you can delete your own replies but if the OP chooses to delete their topic as a whole then the whole thread goes.

    Hope that helps?
