UPDATED SPECIFICATION FOR DOMESTIC INPECTION AND TESTING

I have recently updated my specification for domestic inspection and testing.

The specification is designed for bot clients and inspectors. Clients can use to specify what they want and expect inspectors to do when tendering for work. It is also intended for contractors to specify what they are going to do to demonstrate they are professional, protect them against any future allegation as to what they have and have not done, give some protection against the 15 minute drive by contractors who tender cheaper quotes than the decent contractor.

  • I have had a few enquiries and suggestions suggesting individuals would like to do more tests. The specification is a MINIMUM standard for inspecting and testing. Just like BS 7671 is a minimum standard for electrical installations,  a floor not a ceiling! If the inspector wants to do more and the client is willing to pay that is fine with me. The extent and limitations have to be agreed with the client before the inspection starts. The specification can be sent to the client in advance by the inspector for their agreement which will fulfill this requirement.
