I was unable to get smart meters fitted because of lack of room on the DNO board. I was astonished at the size of the unit: as big as two house bricks. I thought that electronic kit was getting smaller by the day but these sure do buck that trend.
And if the DNOs want to replace dumb meters by smart meters you would have thought that the spec would be for them to have the same footprint, sticking out more if they want to build it from discrete components.
Still, no problem for me since I see no advantage in having one and don't want the DNO to know when I pull their fuse.
