'Grounding' Sheet plugs

I came across these things the other day:

This is used for a ‘Grounding’ sheet with conductive fibres woven into it that you connect to the earth of a local 13A outlet.  Leaving aside the ‘science’ of any claimed health benefits of sleeping on a 'grounded' sheet, I wonder two things:

1: How compliant to BS1363 such a plug could be, as technically I expect it lacks many of the features required of a 13A plugtop? The best you might hope for would be that the pins (including the plastic ones) are of the correct size so the contacts in the sockets don't get deformed. 

2: In a PME installation, with the risk of a broken PEN conductor externally, I'm not sure I fancy sleeping on a sheet that could potentially become live - albeit that if I haven't got a foot or hand out of bed, and everything else connected to earth at the time should theoretically be at the same potential…..

Would you sleep on one of these?

    I believe the 1M resistor in antistatic workstation leads is mainly to reduce the shock if the user accidentally pokes a live wire on the equipment being worked on, while being connected to their antistatic wrist strap.

     

    I concur, it is.  But it also has certain ‘reverse’ benefits - you wouldn't want to to tethered to a ‘hot’ earth by your wrist strap!
