27 amp MCBs

I have heard from a not very reliable source, that 27 amp MCBs are used in Australia.

As most of us know, 2.5mm twin with earth cable is good for 27 amps under optimum conditions. It was alleged that the 27 amp MCBs are to allow for electric cookers on 2.5mm.

A quick look on Amazon and fleabay failed to find any 27 amp MCBs which makes me a bit doubtful. 25 amp MCBs are available but not common, and 27 amps offers a very marginal gain in capacity.

There’s oddities such as 9.17 amp MCBs

Looks to me like an ordinary 10A nominal device … but someone has copied the wrong number from the data sheet (9.17A is the rating for 40 degree ambient rather than the usual 30 degree).

Annnnnnnnnnnd the image shows a 16 Amp device.
