RCBO failing insulation test when switched off

Hi

I am fairly new to the trade and finding things I am unsure about, sorry for what is probably a very basic question

I have been taught that switching of an RCBO should be enough to enable a good insulation test.

When running some tests on a ring final with double pole RCBO detection yesterday I found that I had to disconnect the wires from the RCBO to get a good result. I have assumed that this is just down to the design of the RCBO and past the installation, is this the correct action?

Thanks

  • Hi Alan,

You'd be better posting these two posts in the “wiring and the regulations” or the “ask the community” parts of the forum. Loads of people there (particularly in wiring and regs) who'll be happy be answer.

    Cheers, Andy
