Schndr Light Switches.

I am going to recommend  a certain make of light switches to all D.I.Yers. The make starts with an “S”.

They are just great for causing confusion, especially the two way type as the terminals are not traditionally positioned with the common at the point of a triangle and the L1 and L2 together opposite. Also the loop terminal confuses 'em luvverly. I got a load of work today when the householder had wired up some “S” light switches wrongly. GGGGGGGGGGGGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat as that tiger used to say in the breakfast cereal commercial.

There’s work available for a versatile electrician in Norfolk installing security lighting and alarms as well as rewiring tractors, but not one who thinks these light switches aren’t straightforward ?

Did you read the thread from the start Sparkingchip? The confusion was caused by a D.I.Yer trying to install these new switches at his own home. I was called in to correct the wrong connections, which I did, after he made a complete mess of things. Also he had a double pole cord switch with neon light for a loft fan which he tried to replace but shorted wires out and blew the 3Amp fuse in the fused connection unit. (A good reason to fuse down for fans demonstrated there I think). I shall recommend these switches to all D.I.Yers to generate new work for me.

P.S. Does tractor wiring fall under B.S. 7671?

Oh, and when I werra lad and did some tractor driving, it were proppa tractor driving. We ad to steer biet eye, not using some expensive G.P.S. gadget that is attractive to thieves. These modern gadgets are troublesome I reckon. It taint reet.
