EIC inspection question

Hi All,

When filling out a schedule of inspections I always get stuck on this consumer unit question:

‘Suitability of enclosure(s) for IP and fire ratings’

If there is a metal enclosure, then I don't have an issue. Its only when Ive installed a new circuit to an older plastic consumer unit…..

  • An EIC only covers they work you've done - not the existing. As you've not installed the plastic CU, it's material isn't of concern to your certificate (provided it doesn't undermine the safety of your addition/alteration).

If you want to comment on an existing plastic CU, the ‘Comments on exiting installation’ box might be more appropriate.
