
well, the thing is they are doing something - they are the biggest installers of renewables as well as the biggest coal burner, but the latter is a large but declining share of their new installations .
renewables approach a terawatt (and 4% of that, about 36GW of it was installed last year )
But they are building coal plants too (adding 38Gw new in 2020 bringing total coal generation capacity, to more like 1080 GW)
We on the other hand seem happy to live in museum grade housing stock and run kit where the folk who designed it have retired, and whinge about everyone else for not doing anything about it. We can't even fund an experimental tidal lagoon that has a very good chance of working.
