New Part L 2021 requirements for light metering

Can I get peoples opinion on the new lighting metering clause set out below

New Part L 2021 requirements for light metering:-

6.61 - General lighting and display lighting should be metered by one of the following methods.

  1. Dedicated lighting circuits with a kWh meter for each circuit.
  2. Local power meter coupled to or integrated in the lighting controllers of a lighting management system.
  3. A lighting management system that can both: i. calculate the consumed energy ii. make this information available to a building management system.

Of course this regulations still has in the 90% sub-metering, but now it looks like the lighting goes beyond this to ensure 100% and not only this on an individual circuit level.

Might catch people out that aren’t using a lighting control management systems that can monitor consumption so end up having to ensure a separate enclosure full of meters to achieve point A. Looks like risers and electric cupboards are going to get bigger.
