CONSIDERING IET MEMBERSHIP OR YOU ARE ALREADY A MEMBER

Once again I need you help please?

If you have not thought about being a member, or you are thing about being a member of the IET or you are an existing member of the IET what benefits would you want from the IET? Is what is on offer at the moment meeting your needs or not attractive to you.

I wear a number of IET hats and in one role I am looking at improving membership from the installation industry which is not that good in comparison to the size of the industry.

The IET do a lot of good stuff but I am convinced that it is not widely known about. For example this forum is funded and supported as part of the IETs charitable commitment. Also the free webinars we have been doing (Next one on the 5th April).

So rather than me saying I know "whats good for you" I want to hear your views?

Thanks

JP

  • If we want more installers joining the IET then we need to get more installers involved with the IET on the shop floor.

  • Thank you for confirming - we have ordered a replacement certificate for you, please allow up to 4 weeks for delivery. If I can be of any further assistance please let me know.

  • Still no membership certificate received. This is just too bad. A real and total disrespect to a member.

  • I still have no membership certificate. 24/05/2022.

  • I still have no new membership certificate. What is causing the delay? 24/05/2022.

  • Good Afternoon,

Our membership certificates are printed and dispatched by a third party supplier and for this reason we advise it can take up to 4 weeks for hard copy certificates to arrive (as indicated in my earlier response.)  It is for this reason that we offer a digital PDF copy of the certificate to members as an alternative in case they require a copy of their certificate urgently, please do let me know if you would like this as an alternative in the interim period.  If your certificate has therefore not arrived by Friday 10th June (taking into account to impact of the Jubilee bank holiday) please contact membership@theiet.org so we can assist you further.

    Regards,

    Clare

  • Please do NOT email me. Just send the certificate. I asked for one when I sent my cheque. I again asked for one in a second letter. Now all of this bother. The I.E.T. is useless, inefficient and disrespectful.

  • I believe that a refocus would improve things, let us begin with a rebrand back to the Institute Of Electrical Engineering for starters, plus a distancing from something which is trying and failing to be a one-size-fits-all, namely the IET.

I was intrigued to learn from one of the previous posts that the IET cannot comment upon aspects or content of BS7671.

I have always been puzzled by what the structural hierarchy is and what the command flow direction is between the likes of IEC, JPLE64, BSI and the IET. Who drives it and who sets the priorities? Who is funded by who and who decides how to drive revenue generation etc?

Basically, who is wagging whose tails?

    Easy,  it's Spectre....

Or the World Economic Forum's Klaus Schwab, same as Spectre in reality
