Caravan park sockets

Referring to 708.55.1.6

When the socket is mounted above 1.5m, what special measures are being required to allow safe insertion and withdrawal of the plug? Is the interlock referred to in 708.55.1.1 not achieving this?

  • The interlock surely prevents withdrawal of the plug.

I think it's as basic as some means of access (tongue-in-cheek, milk crate or step stool Wink), considering basic ergonomics and nothing more ... it's certainly outside the range in BS 8300 series (and Part M guidance) and for a particular site BS 7671 requirements may have to be assessed against accessibility legislation and standards.
