1930 EICR

  • Most interesting, "perished" cable insulation and poor or no earthing in places.

  • I wonder if it has been rewired again since ... Interesting to see reference to the  earthing of conduits etc.My understanding was that not only were unearthed lighting circuits permitted in new designs until 1966 (quite a few are still in service), but 2 pin sockets, and therefore unearthed wiring,  were acceptable in new non-lighting installations until 1937 (and there were plenty of those still in service until the 1970s).

    Clearly not in the opinion of these chaps.

  • I find the reference to conduit interesting. I found a stump of it under the floorboards only a few days ago and there is still some (surface mounted) above a false ceiling.

    So when did the CPC become part of the cable as opposed to part of the containment?

    ETA: the OP still looks like quite a grand address.

  • I liked the reference to an upcoming conversion from d.c. to a.c.. I'm guessing the local "corporation" had been going around telling people that they needed to make sure their installations were safe & compatible prior to the changeover.
