Customer Not At Home When You Call. Do you charge them?

As working sparks do you charge customers if they are not at home when you call after making an appointment?

  • It had to happen eventually, having driven for two hours I'm now sat in Costa in Iver High Street eating a blueberry muffin and drinking a latte, because I cannot get into a job having spoken to the customer last night and sending a text to say I was on my way this morning.

I told the office I will give it a hour then head back up the motorway having taken a selfie and other photos outside of the customers home as you do in the modern world.

  • I once travelled for two hours to a school to fit a flat screen TV to a wheel along bracket which had been delivered direct to school, no one could find it, rung the supplier who rung the courier, yes it had been delivered, signed for by HT who was off that day, after an hour of searching I returned home , phone rang as I pulled on the drive, the bracket was found behind the sofa in the heads office

  • I know it well as have a customer in the flats right above there! Luckily they’ve always been in when I’ve called though… Did they turn up in the end or was it a wasted trip?

  • I called and had a chat with the customer on another job in Beaconsfield on the way back where I had spent a day on a Saturday working three weeks ago, because the electrical supply needed to be in ready for the following Monday morning, but the job is now delayed until mid-August due to a change of design delaying delivery of the equipment to be installed and everything onsite is exactly as it was three weeks ago.

Then I stopped off at the garden centre at Waterperry Gardens, so I didn’t really achieve anything work-wise all day, being reliant on others to make things happen.

    Que sera sera.
