Has this any failings do you think? The door can be replaced.

There's no stopping me now.

  • It may be out of shot, but are you happy it is compliant with 462.1.201, 465.2 and 465.3?  It would seem arguable that 3 separate 'main switches' (with likely only one of them switching the neutral?) may not be compliant.

  • The bottom left newish looking 3 phase fused switch with the retractable handle is the main switch. Turn it off and everything goes OFF.

I have recently been over working and under thinking. The three phase switched fuse contains three 200 Amp H.R.C. fuses. So they might compensate for the low rated breaking capacity of  the hot wire fuses in the old open fuse box.

I do no tthink that any of the switchgear in the intake room is designed or intended to be used for "emergency switching". It would take many minutes to find the key for the door and to gain access.

  • That seems OK then.  Is there a good reason why L2 and L3 seem to have separate switching - but L1 doesn't?  Seems great way to unbalance things......

  • The whole system feeds many single phase loads. There are no three phase machines on the holiday site so the loading may well not be balanced at all, just like a road supplied by a three phase supply with many individual houses using different amounts of electricity at any one time.

The switch fuse inside the open fuse box is not designed to be switched off as it will be enclosed when the door is in place. I imagine that it was used to fuse down an outgoing distribution circuit after the original hot wire fuse carrier became unserviceable. It contains a cartridge fuse.
