Just give them the options. Chop the wall out or get a different switch. It aint your problem.
I had similar this week where customer has just had a new kitchen fitted, all decorated out then wanted those bleedin awful screwless flatplate sockets fitted.2 had USB points on as well. Absolutely no chance of fitting them in 25mm back boxes, especially as it wasn't going to be tiled either.

The kitchen sockets were all existing, it was just changing the faces so all already in place. Saying that in this world of dot and dab i expect everybody quotes to screw a 25mm box to the wall rather than chop in another 10mm unless asked otherwise. On private jobs i usually have a word with the customer before starting and see what they have in mind.
