Does This Comply?

Location: Loft.

Accessibility: Difficult.

Junction box made out of a double pattress and a blanking plate. All plastic.

Internal joints inaccessible.

Thoughts?

  • Better than a JB but... tidy the wiring up and, hopefully, it's screwed to the timber work!

  • Indeed I did Chris.

  • Nobody will be walking there Gary as the loft headroom is about 500mm and tucked out of the way. The box is not on a walk way.

  • In that case, of course it complies. Laughing

  • Do no tell anyone Tom, but the temporary board was removed and I hid the box on the plasterboard ceiling and under a load of glass fibre loft insulation. It won't over heat as it is only supplying a few L.E.D. lights.

  • I'll buy you a pint Chris. In the old kitchen there was a redundant 3 core and earth cable at a switch box. At the other door there was a single and earth cable, and a twin cable. They all ran upwards to the loft in oval plastic conduit. I was hopeful that I could reuse the old cables to form a two way switchd lighting arrangement for the kitchen, which I did.

  • Shhhhhhhhhhhh! I won't tell anyone, if you don't! Wink
