Hi
During a discussion with Ansell technical department regarding vapourproof led tornado fittings I mentioned that I was using stranded conduit cable to connect into them. These fittings as with most nowadays have the tool-less terminations that you press the little lever in to insert and remove the cable. Their technical department told me that I had to twist the strands of the stranded cable prior to insertion in the terminal. A previous question that posted relating to this topic a while back regarding wago’s came back with the general consensus that stranded cable be left untwisted to allow the strands to spread out along the contact edge of the wago. The terminals in these Ansell fittings aren’t wago’s as such but presumably employ the same type of construction. However this was the manufacturer of the fitting telling me that and not the manufacturer of the terminals so it’s hard to know what’s the best approach.
Any opinions gratefully received
