Part P outside 13 amp socket outlet Notifiable?

Hi

I just wanted to check if the following is notifiable under the Part P regs:

An installation of an IP rated 13amp twin socket, to the external front of the house near the front door in a domestic premises. Circuit is extended from an existing ring main, which in turn is protected by an RCD 30ma. A minor works cert has been provided for the install.

I am assuming as it is not a special location or a new circuit it is not notifiable ?

Just checking to see if that is right as I have seen a note in the Part P document that discuss external installations being Notifiable?

Thanks

Billy

  • Are you in Wales ? If so it is notifiable.

In England, not notifiable, as not a completely new circuit, nor a new CU nor within 60cm of a bath or shower. (the only 3 notifiable electrical works these days)

The original version of part P had garden wiring as notifiable, and a load of other things as well, but England dropped that in the 2012 revision - you may be looking at something based on older advice.

Wales is still running on the older version.
    Mike.

  • I am not going to say "Part P might have been started with good intent by some in the first instance but then became a right old debacle" but I think that Part P might have been started with good intent by some in the first instance but then became a right old debacle
