What are your thoughts regarding safety on this equipment cable entry?

My first post!

Got a new piece of equipment to be fed from 63A/80A single phase supply.  Requires at least 2x 3C cables entering sized at 16mmsq (H07 type).

Glands wont fit, no cable strain relief...

Thoughts appreciated.

  • Doesn't look to meet the IP2X requirement normally needed for enclosures if a finger can reach live parts like that. (Although some equipment standards occasionally have differing requirements.)

I'd suggest having a word with the supplier/manufacturer, or failing that replace those grommets with something with smaller holes, if needs be sandwich the existing wall with a couple of sheets something with a holes appropriate for stuffing glands (or smaller grommets) in them.

  • I have struggled to find glands that will suit the required cable size and available hole size.  Looked at manufacturing a new terminal box but can't as it would block access to other parts of the equipment.

    • Just does not feel comfortable installing this, but thought i might be being a little over sensitive...
