What are your thoughts regarding safety on this equipment cable entry?

My first post!

Got a new piece of equipment to be fed from 63A/80A single phase supply.  Requires at least 2x 3C cables entering sized at 16mmsq (H07 type).

Glands wont fit, no cable strain relief...

Thoughts appreciated.

  • I'd use my go to method...

A bit of 4" trunking and paxolin between the two. Couple of end caps, and bobs your uncle...........I wouldn't accept it installed like that all.

  • Again, good suggestion, but the trunking large enough for the cables would be bigger than the 38mm cable entry and would block access to parts of the equipment.  I would not be able to use this method if installed in an IT rack either (though hopefully that won't be very often).

It is like it has been made to be as difficult to install nicely as possible!

    Thanks again for the suggestion.

Possibly designed for US market, and enclosure provided to try and fit in with EU/UK market?

  • Did not think of that but you might well be correct.  It does however have CE and UKCA certification, and is from a global manufacturer.
