Does changing smoke detector heads in conventional fire alarm system warrant a certificate?

Hi, does removing smoke detector head and putting it back require a modification certificate. Within the same room but different position.

Thanks.

Edit:

  • Why would you not issue a modification cert? From the point of view of the organisation carrying out the modification, it documents the extent of what was done, and that the system has been tested before you left it ... even if there's no need to update system drawings etc. .... so provides a paper trail and helps limit liability?

  • I have to agree with gkenyon why would you not do a certificate, it is your evidence that you have done your job properly.  It's the same if you replace a broken socket outlet in a room; you need to complete a minor works certificate.  Think about what the man with the curly wig would ask you; if a fire broke out and you was the last engineer on site.  You need to protect yourself.
