Electrical Qualifications - City and Guilds, EAL or T Levels

Although I am a bear of little brain, is it just me, or is the electrical training industry a complete mess? Having watched the video below, I don't have the foggiest as to what is required to become an electrician these days. The only conclusion I have drawn is that  It seems that they wish to reduce the number of electricians in the UK to nil as quickly as possible.

  • Nothing is required to become an 'electrician' in England.

    You might have to pay someone some money to do any of the three types of work for which the law says you must pay someone some money before doing them - if judged competent (or is it now skilled?).

  • 3 types of work? What are they?

  • (a) the installation of a new circuit;

    (b) the replacement of a consumer unit; or

    (c) any addition or alteration to existing circuits in a special location.
