Counterfeit IET books.

A few years ago I posted on this forum saying that I had personally received a counterfeit copy of the IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment sold through an online selling platform.

I complained and received a refund after I returned the book, but a bad review I left was taken down as it did not meet the selling platform guidelines for reviews.

Counterfeit IET books are still being sold through that and other online retailers, and many of these books have misprints in them which are potentially dangerous.

“Caveat emptor” applies to purchases from many online retailers “let the buyer beware.” It’s not worth trying to save a few quid buying IET books from them.

  • Price isn’t usually an issue, the main reason people buy counterfeit IET books without realising they have done so, is that the vendor who is primarily responsible for selling them offers next day delivery, which is free if you have signed up for their tv streaming service and the purchase can be completed with one tap of a finger.

  • Maybe the IET legal team need to have a chat with Amazon UK (other online selling platforms are also available)

  • "Price isn’t usually an issue..."  -  isn't it  ;-)
