Counterfeit IET books.

A few years ago I posted on this forum saying that I had personally received a counterfeit copy of the IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment sold through an online selling platform.

I complained and received a refund after I returned the book, but a bad review I left was taken down as it did not meet the selling platform guidelines for reviews.

Counterfeit IET books are still being sold through that and other online retailers, and many of these books have misprints in them which are potentially dangerous.

“Caveat emptor” applies to purchases from many online retailers “let the buyer beware.” It’s not worth trying to save a few quid buying IET books from them.

  • The new regs book is published in April, with the associated reference books being published over the coming months, so if everyone buys their new books from reputable sources and do not buy them from dodgy online retailers, by Christmas there will not be the huge number of counterfeit books being used that there are now.

Now is the time to resolve a big problem.
