Protected corridor lighting cabling compliance

Hi - I'm currently working on a residential project that has a protected corridor. I'm happy with how to deal with the general wiring and compliance, however I have been asked the question regarding the cabling between the luminaire and the driver. How to make this compliant, has anyone else had this issue. Section 422.2 clearly addresses the supply cable requirements but I can't find anything relating to the driver cables. Help most appreciated.

  • If it could kill a fireman, or resident, because it drooped during a fire (look up why the requirements came into being, and any referenced fire regs), then I'd suggest securing the driver cables as if they were just as strong as power cables when a snag hazard.

  • That's the support side of it,  a similar precautionary approach should probably apply to avoiding PVC cables to reduce toxic smoke. I.e. extend the same approach to that last link. And,  if there is a very good reason that the last link is PVC and it cannot be eliminated, then keep the offending span as short as possible.

  • Or just ignore the whole concept!

  • That's supposed to be a 'protected' corridor is it ? Looks more like a service duct with an incidental fire exit. Not for the first time I think you have a good collection of illustrative photos.
